Hello everyone
I have 2 Canon 600EX RT and bought myself a Nikon Z6. I can use my canon flash in manual mode from the hot shoe.
Can somebody help me out how to trigger
them wirelessly from the Z6 hot shoe, please? I have a canon ST-E3- RT but it doesn’t seem to work. I know they are not meant to work on nikon bodies but I’m not a pro and would like not to buy another set of flashes. Can a third party receiver/ transmitter do the trick? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Yn e3 rt seems to work with canon 600 ex rt. As in the above link if it works only for manual(non ETTL) for non canon cameras then it can be a option

The ST-E3-RT should work as a manual trigger for the 600EX-RTs off-camera, even on a Nikon hotshoe. You might even still get remote power control. No TTL or HSS, obviously.

Is the Z6 in electronic/silent curtain mode? That will turn off flash on most mirrorless cameras.

The fundamental issue is that a radio transmitter made to work in the hotshoe of the Nikon camera will send iTTL COMMANDS understood by a Nikon-compatible flash, rather than sending eTTL commands understood by your Canon flash.

You could use a trigger which sends NO commands at all, other than Trigger, and use your Canon flash in the External mode (which uses the photosensor in the flash to determine when to shut off light output)

May I ask why you bought Canon 600 EX-RT and ST-E3 RT system if using a Nikon body. Will not work with full advantages of the RT (Radio Transmission) will only work on Canon bodies. You could buy a Canon Body and lenses and your issue is solved. However we don’t know what your Nikon Inventory of lenses is as well. It may be something to look at in trading in your gear as the Canon RT system has been serving me well when first introduced in 2012.
Something to consider as the RT allows numerous possibilities you may never thought possible.

I have a Canon 60 d and bought the flashes in the past for that. In 2019 I bought the Z6. Now I’m having a hard time to decide what to do. Sell my nikon
stuff(3 lenses + Z6) or buy nikon flashes
or keep nikon gear and add canon camera
like R6 which is tempting anyway. Really don’t know yet what to do. I also have 2 canon full frame lenses and 2 crops.
Decisions decisions...
Thx everyone for your input.
