Ray these are beauties. Love seeing oldies and in working order.

Maybe throw some blue dye in the water would be good I assume that's what it is :p

Glovis Century. Tilbury. River Thames.

Bringing a load of motoring delights - or exporting them?

Why not both? Import from wherever, and export Rolls Royces, Bentleys, Vauxhalls, Minis, and Landrovers?

Looks like it could use a lick 'o paint. Nicely captured.

Capn’ you’ve forgotten Jaguar and Range Rover.:-)
Capn’ we own the rights to nothing here anymore. All our glory days of historic assets have been flogged under the very eyes of the ones who were voted to protect them.
Rolls Royce owned by BMW and Bentley a unit of Volkswagen AG. They seem to let us make them here though. I have recently read a very interesting book called WO. It’s about the founder of Bentley. WO Bentley. I have read a similar book about Rolls Royce and it’s acquisition of Bentley.

As for Jaguar, I have owned many new Jags over the last thirty years, but they were bought up by Ford, who did nothing for the quality and then got a surprising quality boost when an Indian business - Tata took them over. They are all made here but, it seems, nothing owned here. I think I have got my facts correct.-?

Thanks, I knew I was forgetting a couple and I hoped you would fill in the gaps. Tata is a respected company, although I'm not surprised that there was in improvement in quality when Jaguar was sold from Ford. There's a reason I don't own Fords any more, and they are the best of the USA manufacturers.

It seems, Capn' the Ford Mustang is a coveted car by certain type of driver over here - don't ask me what type though.
In the Ford days, Fords seemed to be letting Jaguar rapidly go downhill. Then Tata took it over. Everything about the car improved although there have been a few recent setbacks - mainly due to a sign of our times. When I first bought a Jag, the dealer said "See you in twelve months" I ask what about the initial three month check-up. He confidently said "You won't have any trouble" He was correct.

John, Many moons ago -so to speak - I had a red 1929 MG Midget (the wasp shaped tail model). When I was driving it I had to rest my arm out of the window because it was so crammed, the rain would soak you through to the skin and every time you hit a bump the hood would collapse. It had a wooden floor, which had gone rotten and in the wet weather the rain would spout up. With a bit of hard cornering the wire wheel spokes would spring away from the hubs and a bit of violent acceleration would advance the OHC camshaft by a tooth or two. If you missed a gear, a few more teeth would be stripped out of the crown wheel.
Needless to say, the small space behind the front seats was full tools and spares donated by friends from old cars. Now, as a sequel, I gave £18 for it and got £22 for when I finally gave up with it. I patted myself on the back for having made a profit. I can only imagine it's value today.-?

Astro Compass. Navigation device from WWII.
I showed this device to an old acquaintance who was a navigator on seaplanes during WWII, I can't remember his exact comments as it was a long time ago, but I think he said it was rather difficult to use - maybe his one-word description was useless.
Please read the links.
