I don't know any of the details about your problem (equipment used, etc.) but my bet would be your Camera Raw version is older than your camera. RAW file formats change and new ones are not always compatible with older software. Also, I doubt that Photoshop CC 2015 is eligible for any upgrades these days.

The way around this problem might be to convert your RAW files to DNG. Adobe has a free utility (external link) that you can download to do that.

And just as a minor pedantic footnote, it's a raw file, not a RAW file. I don't know why so many people think "raw" is an acronym. It's just a word: raw meat, raw spinach, raw files.

If you are subscribing why are you using this old version? That is literally from 2015. PS is 22.0.1 now.

I was thinking the same thing.

I suggest that you tell Canon that then.

Canon has it wrong. If you (or Canon) are suggesting that "RAW" is an acronym comparable to JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) or PNG (Portable Network Graphics), please tell us what the letters stand for. I'd love to know.

"RAW" has become conventional usage, just as "media" as a singular noun has become conventional. But the fact is, "RAW" is not an acronym, and "media" is plural, not singular. As I said initially, it's a minor footnote. It isn't a hill worth dying on.

From their web site...

IT'S ALL IN THE NAME
Because 'International Organization for Standardization' would have different acronyms in different languages (IOS in English, OIN in French for Organisation internationale de normalisation), our founders decided to give it the short form ISO. ISO is derived from the Greek 'isos', meaning equal. Whatever the country, whatever the language, we are always ISO.

Nikon uses RAW as well, so I guess they are "wrong" also. ;-)a Of course nobody except the occasional message board poster cares.

There are some that feel "RAW" is easier to see than "raw" on camera menu displays. I would agree, but then my eyes are 77 years old.

Not only easier to see but to differentiate it from "raw". Not to mention every manufacturer has a different extension for their files and RAW simply lumps them all in one place.

To get back to your topic, here's a link to recent updates to the Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in.

If this doesn't solve your issue, I would try their DNG converter as suggested by bpalermini
