Happy Thanksgiving!

Since I am challenged when it come to post processing, anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix the "rainbow" sunlight in this shot I took this morning?

Maybe you could try selecting the area then apply a 'Hue/Saturation' adjustment layer. Select the color and decrease saturation or adjust the hue to a more suitable color. You may need to feather the selected area too.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday too.

Here's an example where I made a selection of the upper right in the image and then feathered it. I applied a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer to the selection and then lowered the saturation of the yellows. Next, I added a 'photo filter' layer and applied the same mask to it to restrain this effect to the desired area. I hope that is what you had in mind.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

I put all my challenge coins in a small stand I just got in front of the USS Oriskany model I built. There are three coins dedicated to the ship and the fourth is from the VFW.

Happy thanksgiving everyone!

Thank you very much Vinz.

I hope this isn't too far off topic since no Sony image here. ;-)a but I thought I'd share this:

As you may know, Thanksgiving Day celebrates the 400 year anniversary of the arrival of the Mayflower to America.

In researching my family history, I discovered a biography of my great grandfather F.H. Lewis that was published in 1899. In that biography was the following lines that mention a direct connection to John Alden, the Cooper who came to America aboard the Mayflower in 1620.

"On the 27th of December, 1871, in Marion Township, Mr. Lewis was united in marriage with Miss Lucy A. Johnson, a daughter of Rev. G. S. Johnson, who served as postmaster of Stillman Valley continuously for about a quarter of a century. He was a native of Massachusetts, an early settler of Illinois, and was a direct descendant of John Alden, who came to America on the Mayflower."

Based on this, I've tried to see if I could make the connection to John Alden (1599-1687) at ancestry.com and believe I have been successful in making that connection. Recently, I got a hint tied to another ancestor of John Alden who has a DNA match to me going back 5 generations to John Alden's great-grandson, also named John Alden (1718-1821). This evidence helps confirm my family connection to both John Alden and his wife Priscilla Mullins. They would be my 8th great grandparents.

Before the kitchen got taken over preparing dinner, I whipped up some white chocolate and cranberry cookies this morning. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA.

Very nice. I have no chance. We don't get that type of light here!

Thanks. Why is that, surely you have golden hour light at times. The light and shadow in this case was caused by the mountain ridge line to the right. Its shape dictated the patterns and cutoff.

4matic wrote in post #19157695 (external link)
Both really lovely.
Edit: Forgive my ignorance whats IG?
And also Travis your photography is truly inspiring and has encouraged me into expanding and exploring my hobby of photography.

Thanks, that means quite a bit to me. IG is Instagram. And what I meant by it, is that I think the first one really will need to be printed to truly appreciate it...on the typical small screens of a phone it lacks enough to grab the attention, it needs to be viewed larger format, I think, to appreciate it.

Thanks.

Thanks, glad to see that there are others that like it too, i was so excited when I saw it on the LCD.

That challenge - to capture the light the way you see it - is what keeps photography interesting to me.

Yes, that has been a real challenge for me in this type of lighting, getting the exposure right has been something that has plagued me forever.

dude...you are capturing the best parts of life...good on you. I might have to take the camera tomorrow...if I don't feel too much like I have been hanging out with Eddie tomorrow...haha!

If I am being honest, one thing I have always struggled with capturing the way I see it...is that glancing light, light in the midst of shadow and darkness...I try, and try and often fail. So I have been trying to figure it out. Or at least practice. I had some practice this fall. Two images that have been types of light that I struggle with...and two images that I am actually happy with. Popular, IG killers...nope...but I really only care about learning to capture this light, because there have been times that I have missed it so bad that I want to be better at it in the future.

I actually really like the way the light is breaking up the frame. First shot in particular has a nice effect of splitting the frame in half diagonally....I think would benefit from more symmetry by cropping it slightly so that the light hits ends at the top left corner of the frame.

I've been spending less time following things like IG, flickr explore, etc etc. Those are filled with stereotypically popular photos....over processed shots of naturally photogenic subject matter. Chasing stuff like that sort of kills the art of getting creative and looking and what you have in front of you in different ways.
