An early Christmas present to me.

I used my Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f1.2 lens for this one.

I've been testing out the new Sigma 105 macro, mostly just around the house as I haven't had much of an opportunity to get out due to the overcast skies. This thing is super sharp and I'm really impressed with the bokeh given that it's a macro lens. Planning to head out tomorrow and do some real shooting.

I bookmarked it, maybe over Christmas break I can get a starter going...I suck at backing, so this could be interesting.

Another Eastern Bluebird from last week. They are still here, at least 7 of them. A bunch of birds right now, and the MErgansers are still at the lake, so the 200-600 might get loaned out again this week...

Perfect!
Mine are long gone in the city, and none at altitude.
No Mergansers either on the lake but Buffleheads have arrived...just think, we'll be in the single digits next week and that is balmy for a Bufflehead.

One from closer to my home. I tried a bit higher vantage point. Being short and handicapped doesn't help. If I shoot later for a better sky then the grape vines are all in shade and don't show any color. Most of them are all dried up at this time and soon will loose all the leaves. I did use a GND and a circular pol in this shot to get some blue in the sky.

Your dad has good taste! ;-)a

This photo was taken using ambient and the bar lights only. No flash or floods, just a tripod and a long exposure.

It is nice but can I see a little bigger size? Not an iPhone person but I work on Google Pixel phones and to me at least a 15 yr old 5dc still does a better job if you stick a 35L on it. It won't have the DR but one can easily take care of that by shooting properly exposed shots. If you looking for pocketable cameras, then yes current phones do a very good job.

I think that's the whole point.....it's a phone!

With the arrival of the Sigma 105 macro today this 70-180 Lens may need to go. I cant give up the versatility of the 100-400 but having 3 lenses in my bag that cover 100mm range is excessive.

I watched a YouTube video the other day and they had an iPhone 12 max and a canon mirrorless (R5 or R6 I think) and it was a blind test, so same framing/photos and same post work. It was mainly portraits but honestly you couldn’t tell the difference. I’m sure if you pixel peep you could but for posting online and printing at normal sizes it was crazy how close they were.

Won’t be selling all my gear for an iPhone just yet though
