really enjoying mine!

i'm still in the process of setting all the custom buttons though.. recently shot 2 music videos with it,,

have to figure out the best profiles , i know with the a7s2 i was on slog2 but there was a bit of customization i did as well so that the files.

just ordered a cage for it, i want to start using my atamos with it more so i can record directly to prores 422 rather than transcoding.

the a7s3 is everything i was hoping for .. now why did i sell all my lenses..lol

10bit 4:2:0 XAVC HS is the answer. No need to transcode anything, assuming you have a video card that supports it.

for in cam, SLOG3 is the best, then SLOG2, then HLG3.... I've settled for HLG3 because screen grabs to heif to iphone is pretty darn nice SOOC. For photos, I do raw + heif because it's simple to export to iphone, and using pp1, I can tweak SOOC heif to get it to look near the HLG3 screen grabs, for some reason, HLG3 photos do NOT work the same, which is unfortunate. It's an incredible camera, love having the hold and toggle buttons in a video centric camera, I can control all things manual really fast, shutter, aperture, iso, and kelvin, I've been run and gun fully manual since :-P

a shame no shutter angle and a way to toggle framerate....

Jimmy McIntyre has a discount deal on his new "Gradiate" panel for PS. Its $8 instead of $24.99 - https://www.shutterevolve.com …hop-color-grading-plugin/ (external link)

Im not 100% sold on it as a lot of this can be done in other ways such as the grading section of LR however theres a few nice features in there so Ill probably get it since its only $8

I am going to like this Sigma 105. I finally feel I have my old Canon 100L back if not even better.

Didnt get much of a chance to play with it but took it to a job site and I love the 3d -ish look. It is real comfortable to use and very natural. I love the bokeh

Not the best pics but just wanted to FYI on the lens

One of the [Song Sparrows] from a few days ago. They just sit and sing and flitter around. 45 minutes out back with the birds and a camera is better than 45 minutes on a couch with some shrink...the 200-600 gets picked up again tomorrow...I might have to just cave in and buy one soon...I keep renting it...this was at 600
and then cropped to 50% of the original frame. Still plenty sharp for me.

Would love to see more shots. I have the Fuji GF 120mm f4 macro and don't use it much so would like to sell it. Sigma will be much cheaper. I was thinking 90mm f2.8 but reviews on it are so so as it seems lot of copy variation which I didn't believe would happen in this mirrorless age. Maybe I should just stick with the 90mm TS-E as it can do some macro.

Spending any time with a hobby (pick your favorite) is better than watching TV and spending time on worthless IG, FB, Twitter. Gave up TV bunch of yrs ago and don't miss it now. Only watch Super Bowl once a yr or movies with the kids. No FB, never used Twitter. Less stress.

Cool shot of the wren. When I used to take their pictures they won't stand still.

Yeah I am not much of a TV person, most nights I sit at my computer editing. Maybe sim racing...

The perches I have set up are near feeders, so they are all waiting in line!

Congrats on your new acquisition. I've had mine for a week or so and I'm really impressed at the sharpness and bokeh of this lens although honestly I'm not surprised, Sigma has been on a tear with their ART series. Weather here is now isn't very conducive to outdoor shooting so I have been experimenting indoors. I still have a Canon MT-24EX twin lite macro flash back from my Canon days that I have been testing with but although it will fire, it's strictly manual mode only with Sony bodies which is a bit of a pain.

Yes there are a couple of things I would have liked to see that the gh5 had. Such as shutter angle so that its all automated when I switch from 25 to 60 or 120..

I have sandisk extreme pros. Good enough for the 10 bit 422 at 100. But not the all -I.
The files produced with 400+mbps 10 422 are a dream to grade , with music video I find that often 100mbps starts to fall apart as I do more extreme color grading as per the clients wishes ..

Anyway I like the 7 inch monitor of the atamos I have , makes it super easy to see whats going on and for manual focus ing as well. Im in af most of the time but sometimes we want a very specific transition in focus that tapping doesn't do well enougjh.. plus my eyes are failing at close distance lol..

For personal/ family use though , yeah no monitor and even the 8 bit 420 files are more than good enough as im looking for natural looking colors so I stick with cine2 or cine4
