To better show the contents of the bottle, sometimes the back label needs to be removed if there is one and a reflective foil type paper cutout set up at an angle behind the bottle to reflect light through the liquid.

Based on Miranda1's recommendation, I picked up a bottle of Lagavulin 16 Yr Scotch Whisky. I'm looking forward to trying it later today. (I reflected light through this bottle)

My favourite of the Isay malts by far. It's pretty hard to fine locally, I use to travel quite a bit to Webster NY prior to the pandemic and always made sure I stopped at the US tax-free shop to pick up a bottle before crossing over to Canada.

Not sure if you've tried Islay scotches before, it's a unique taste quite different from mainland scotch.

Would you please post a shot of your perches? Now that the 200-600 is on the way, I'm going to set some perches down near the creek and just looking for some examples of what others have done.

yeah, when I go out tomorrow I will snap a couple photos...just old large sticks in the ground on metal fencing rods...

I'm contemplating setting up a feeder and some perches as well this year but I'm still undecided. I had a feeder out last winter and although it attracted a fair amount of birds it seemed to attract an equal amount of rodent ( common problem here in the city ) even with rodent proof seed.

The rodents in my yard seem to really not like the hot pepper seed, the one, and only one brick I put out that was not hot pepper...the tree rats ate it all in one day...something that takes the birds 2 weeks to do. They were just taking chunks of it off...little varmints...but they don't touch the hot pepper suet or seed blocks. and I don't use loose seed either, that makes it much too easy. I need to put out some sort of water source.

Here's a BTS of my shot. I used an LED light panel shooting through tracing paper in a window screen frame for the main light. You can see the gold foil cutout that was behind the bottle. Not shown is a white foamcore board I handheld on the left to throw some light on the right side of the bottle.

The foil paper is taped to a piece of styrofoam and placed at an angle to bounce light through the bottle from behind.

I've had a chance to try this scotch now and it is outstanding. I've never experienced Islay scotches in the past and I'm very happy you suggested this for me.

Glad you like it Gene, I still enjoy a Speyside every now and then but I much prefer the Islay malts. I did some looking around and was able to locally source some Lagavulin, off to pick it up tomorrow as an early Christmas present.

You guys are making me thirsty!

I'm more of a bourbon guy myself, but someday I will have to make an effort with scotch. When I retire I am going to be close to the tax free New Hampshire state stores which supposedly have some great deals, and I can expand my horizons.

Guys. If I connect my new external hard drive and copy all my images over I'm going to lose all my Lightroom library catalogue correct?

I'm halfway through editing last weekends images.....

You can move the raws to the external. Just grab the entire directory and repoint the catalog to it.

From within LR? I'm on LR5 too mind not CC. Plus I don't have ALL of my images in the LR library anyway.

Can I rename the new drive with the ie. E: as the old drive so that the actual path is the same even though its a new drive unit?

Lee - make the move from within lightroom! Don’t move the files via windows explorer. Instead use library module in LR and move them that way. Doing it that way will maintain all links and edits.

You can do it the other way but you then need to make LR reassociate all the paths

Edit - from the ones not in LR catalog just move them from within windows as it doesn’t matter

Yes you can change the letters but better to go by the volume name. You can call it Old_Drive and New_Drive if you like.
