Lee - make the move from within lightroom! Don’t move the files via windows explorer. Instead use library module in LR and move them that way. Doing it that way will maintain all links and edits.

You can do it the other way but you then need to make LR reassociate all the paths

Edit - from the ones not in LR catalog just move them from within windows as it doesn’t matter

Plug new drive in. Name and set up. Transfer LR library across. Transfer the rest via Windows. Correct?

When I transfer via LR, will that keep the full location? ie.... /photos/family/2020 etc

It sounds so simple to write.....

Sigma 45 is a cool little lens. Definitely get the FE 35 f2.8 or Rx1RII P&S vibe.

Rendering is interesting for an f2.8 prime. You're never going to obliterate the background the way you can with a fast aperture prime but the bokeh is smooth, in focus area is sharp wide open, and the transition from the focal plane is really smooth, but pronounced. You get some nice pop when shooting from mid-range.

Correct - it will keep the folder structure (as the lightroom library path is the same). All you are doing is changing root drive e.g d:/ might now be e:/.

Well, I do read them...... But that just means I know the names of the parts IN a computer. I just don't know what they all do..... and how they all work together

I had a good 30 minute therapy session this afternoon as soon as I got home with the 200-600...imaged 12 different kinds of birds in that time...

One of my favorites was this Pine Warbler hanging out in what is left of the fall foliage on my Maple Tree. This is a crop that is about 50% of the original frame.

Last one for tonight...I don't want to bore anyone...but the juveniles don't sit still very long, and this one had great coloring and the background...that background...in the full resolution file, I can see the reflection of my house...in the eye...shot handheld at 600mm, 1/250 second exposure, f/6.3, ISO 1600. This is only cropped a little, this is 83% of the original, I just couldn't crop out that background.

Wow, Travis...wonderful capture! Such a beautiful bird. Also the sharpness and clarity of the 200-600mm consistently stands out to me.

Now that I have a nice lot (1.5 acre) and a beautifully wooded back and side yard (nothing but forest beyond and beside us) it might open up some possibilities for me to capture similar images - I’d need to upgrade my gear though.

The 200-600 arrived this afternoon as it was getting too dark to shoot anything outside. I put a Wimberley foot on it.

Rendering-wise, the Sigma 45 is legit a mini 35 f1.2 Impressed

I want to see what I can do at home in the woods and creek behind the house. That's why I was curious about perches. I'll probably need to get some sort of "camo" cover for this big white beast.

Other "targets" include the annual whale migration along the coast, seal pups, etc.
