Abigail. This shoot did not go well at all. And perfect weather to boot.

Unfortunately, serious. I've wanted so bad to be able to use my Canon 85 1.4L but the focus issues have finally gotten the best of me. I've sent it in, sent my 5D IV in and still not good enough. I'm shooting at 2.8 just to get some relative sharpness to the image. Going to order the sigma version on Black Friday.

Ah, disaster on the gear side. Yeah that sucks, I know the feeling...I switched to Sony because of it happening all the time.

Gotta say that I love to return to this thread and see all the great work

When we started this thread 10+ years ago It was a place to come and get inspiration and get information so that No One would get a HS senior picture that looked like mine

Man how times have changed. Kids today are very expressive as to who the are at this stage in life and its great to see everyone kicking butt with the cameras

This was my HS senior picture from 1974. My how times have changed

great job everyone. Keep it going. These threads now have over 3 million views....AWESOME:love:

Doing great Bobbyz

still shooting weddings and still shooting an occasional HS senior and doing some wildlife photography. Mostly retired going forward so part time shooting only. Would like to shoot 10 weddings a season and as many HS seniors as I can get. Very crowded markets

Dungeon Master

When Harry’s mom and I started talking about his senior photos, she asked me to incorporate Dungeons & Dragons into a photo so I asked them to bring a playing board and some dice. I set up my lighting after his cap & gown photos and with fishing line I tied to an overhead boom, I then used poster putty to attach 5 dice pieces and swing them back and forth. Then I changed the lighting to overhead and shot the dice movement again, all while Harry just held out his hand in a throwing gesture.

With 41 photos to work with, I first chose the main photo for his expression (second photo) and made my adjustments in Lightroom. After an export into Photoshop, I then spent the time finding 5 good photos of the dice to work with, so with the background and main photo, that put me at 7 photos used, in 21 layers.

Please enjoy, the Dungeon Master!

I've been following this thread for quite a while. Not because I shoot seniors, but the images here are wonderful & there is a lot to learn.

Just one question, is anyone here doing it on FILM? If so, what are you shooting? Just curious as I've just gone back to shooting film (& I love it) & there is a lot of wonderful stuff I've seen on Portra, Fuji, & others (on YouTube). Even seen some beautiful stuff done with the Cinestill.

Just curious. Thanks.
