I was out with some of my old camera gear to shoot the pre-Christmas activities down town in Auckland City.

I stumbled onto a fantastic performance incorporating a melding of modern dance with traditional Maori elements, performed in the shallow pool of the Auckland Art Gallery to kick off a multi-month exhibition of Maori contemporary art.

This Maori dancer struck me for her beauty and dignified carriage.

Interesting water-staging. Was that at an outdoor venue?

Like the effect of the faded out edges. Give an "antique" look to the photo.

Hi! Yes, there is a shallow pool in the forecourt to the main art gallery entrance.
