First year with two D500"s and one 500PF!

Almost a year ago I traded in a Canon 7DII with 400DOII for a Nikon D500+500PF.
I mistakenly sold the D500 after getting the Z7, but later on re-purchased the D500 and will likely never sell it again.
The D500+500PF combo has grown on me and it feels as if I have owned it for much longer than almost a year.
Although it is still not my ideal camera lens combo, I have enjoyed it tremendously and hope to do so for many more years.
In the nearby future I hope to add a 3kg 600/4 lens, and praise myself lucky that I live in this day of wildlife photography, because just as amazing as the 500PF is, is the fact that we can now enjoy a handholdable 600/4 lens that weighs only 3kg and can bring that extra bit of intimacy and extra bit of light when needed.
It is a bit of a mixed bag because knowing the camera market is in fierce decline, stiil there was never a better time to be into bird and wildlife photography.

Here are a few favorites from my first outings this year with the 500PF

Where is exactly is this 600 pf you've mentioned below?

I could only find: a) a patent b) rumors, but not c) a lens you can buy today.

The 600mm f5.6PF is a lens that I wanted but got the 500PF because that is what Nikon made. I have given up on this lens (600PF) and have accepted the considerable cost of a 600mm f4 lens. These were never in my mind before Sony and Canon suddenly came with their 3kg versions, and then still were not in my mind because of their unrealistic prices.
But along the way I found that I actually spent more on system changes than on a 600mm f4 lens, while the latter would last me the remainder of my shooting days. So I decided to freeze all and any spending on photography equipment save for óne last investment.
I will absolutely keep the D500+500PF, I could no longer do without it, but I am still fully undecided where the 600/4 is concerned, Sony, Canon or wait for the Z600/4S. The latter is more or less a fact as it is on the Z mount lens roadmap with silhouette and all...

Almost a foot of snow came down overnight on Christmas Eve so you know I'm going to get out there first thing in the AM and get some birds in snow shots.

Wow.
The Cardinal shot is a real beauty with action, colour and snow
Snow certainly adds another dimension.
Interesting pose of the second.
Two lovely photos.

Look forward to more :-)

So lucky you got snow on Christmas, and glad to see you capitalized on it! The Cardinal shot is pretty awesome, makes perfect use of the snowy conditions. Nice work, Doc!

Photos of a Eurasian Tree Sparrow and a Corn Bunting taken on 30.12.20 at Eyes Lane, Bretherton, Lancashire, UK. Some purple fringing on both, possibly because I had used to much EV?
