yellow tail cockatoo from apollo bay last week . They are for the most part skittish and take off at the drop of a hat if approached so hard to get a decent shot normally . I was lucky this time as he took off and flew towards me rather than away .

Grey Fantail - 'Cranky Fan'
these two have a nest in the old dairy but can't get a decent photo as they are too far into the shed suspended on fan belts.
It's been fascinating to watch them develop though and grow in such a tiny nest.
Today was wet and they came and sang and flitted about all round me.
They are really used to my presence and have no qualms with me being about

now the Fantails have fledged and the nest is empty I took a photo of the nest.
Beautifully nestled amongst some fan-belts of all things :-P

I got a few shots while the eggs, then babies were in the nest, but it was a tight squeeze between two posts so poor quality.
One shot the parent was sitting on the nest looking down into it with such a wonderful look on its face. (I used the lens for binoculars and did more looking than photography)

It was also fascinating watching them sit and flick their heads about looking at the insects then fly off, make a catch and bring it back to the perch then head off to the nest.
Weird as it felt they were putting on a show for my benefit. :-P

It must be Rainbow Lorikeets Day. - I set up a bird feeder in my back yard and the lorikeets came a-calling.
