I visit this/these annually at the same place. Not sure why they return or if it is even the same bird(s). There are two this year. Burrowing owls. They are small.

I like the look these guys give you. Way back when I used to be into birding, I would drive around for these little folks.

Really cool shot! One of the nice things about shooting owls, they are very curious and willing to pose especially during the day. I came across a Great Hormed owl recently on a walk and spent a good 15 minutes checking him out with no reaction to me at all, unfortunately didn't have my camera with me at the time.-?. Unless I'm mistaken the owl in you photo I believe is a Barred Owl.

Looked it up on allaboutbirds, and you're quite right: it is a northern barred owl. Barn Owls are very different.

I will try my rocket blower. I bought it 15 yrs ago, so may now get to use it. But honestly what is that sensor clean on Sony doing, just playing a wav file when you shut down the camera.:)

Lol it also technically bars the ibis so the mirror is immobile when you clean it. I've not bothered with that when using the rocket blower.

It doesn’t clean it for you, it stabilises the sensor to allow you to clean it, that’s why you won’t be noticing any difference if you aren’t actually doing anything yourself.

There was a little discussion on cleaning your sensor, so this should clarify how to do it

I was talking about the dust shake off that happens when you power down. All mirrorless have similar and it works, except on Sony.

Thanks. So he says the dust shake off thing which should work, but doesn't work. Good to know this.

The only thing I’m aware of that happens is that every so often the camera maps the dead pixels, you can here it happening as it sounds like a delayed switch off. The Sony’s don’t have a self clean function or dust shake that I’m aware off?

I took the photo from my driveway but I try to insert my name in my photos whenever I can, that's why I put my name where the house number at the curb across the street would go, reflection and all. :-)

Ah, good work. It was the reflection that made me think it might be real! Good editing!

Golden Gate bridge using the Canon 24mm TSE-II and MC-11 adapter. The plan was to get the focus plane aligned with the bridge, which I couldn't figure out in the 15 mins or so that I had.

Planning to go out on New Year’s Day for sunrise. This year has been the least amount of landscape photos I’ve taken since starting photography due to Covid and separating etc so aiming to try and turn things around in the coming year and try and get the bug back.

Anyone else got any New Years resolutions of sorts?

On my part, I'm still going to be managing my own expectations as to what will be possible in the coming year.

That being said, intending to keep working on organizing my photos (was able to finish my entire library as of a few weeks ago), polishing my website, and trying to put myself out there a bit more.

Also aim to do a bit more landscape/nature/bird photography, since these should be easier regardless of what public health measures we may still have to contend with in the foreseeable future.

Don't know if you'd call those "resolutions", but those are my plans ;)
