So sorry about Taz. Last year, we were down to the last two of our little clowder, but sadly little Marmalade got cancer and passed at home. Our Bruce pined for her, and he is getting old; 17 at the time. At the beginning of COVID, we got a rescue which we hoped would cheer him up, but unfortunately the new guy, Garfield (a 3 year old orange tabby) and he just tolerate each other. Then about 3 months ago, some workmen in our community found an abandoned 2 week old gray tabby. We took her in, bottle fed her, and now she is number 3. Her name is Luna, too!. She and Garfield get along great, and while the now 18 year old Bruce is slowing down, he does not wander around crying like he did. I will get a few pictures up. Taz was lucky to have such a good Human, and Luna will have a good home. Embrace those who seek the truth; run from those who claim to have found it.

Jan 03, 2021 16:40 | #11824 This guy comes arounf for dinner most days. He's getting more and more relaxed. He used to cower away when I would put his food out, but now he's just chillin', waiting patiently. "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." -- Anais Nin

Now that you mention it. I was thinking it might just be that angle, but even on a different day, you can see it. "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." -- Anais Nin

Jan 04, 2021 00:10 | #11827 ^ Nah. He's just looking around for his own safety. That stern look is pretty normal. Everything they visibly do outside is a compromise of their safety and existence. Ferals don't usually display the same emotions and vocalizations as house cats do. Skittish is their way of life. Older ones (and he looks mid-age) are more seasoned, and have safe zones, but they're always alert for trouble. Must be rough always looking over one's shoulder for a possible enemy attack.

I don't think he has another home somewhere, but I'm not 100% sure. He definitely feels safer than before. When he first showed up a couple of months ago, he would back off to a safe distance when I would bring food out to him, and was quick to scatter when I would even walk outside. Now, as in the photo, he just sits calmly and waits while I come out and put food in his dish. "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are." -- Anais Nin

Now, as in the photo, he just sits calmly and waits while I come out and put food in his dish. Then he can be tamed and homed. He has reasoned it out that people and food are beneficial to him and he must be grateful for the handouts. That's how Lolli, or ex-feral, began with us. From there, he pretty much took it upon himself to become a house cat. Small steps over many months. Sounds impossible, but I think they do see other cats in and around a family of humans have a good thing going and perhaps want a piece of the action. Just my experience and my two cents.

Pardon the cell phone photo, but I didn't want to make her move to get my DSLR.! Excellent shot. What phone? I recently got the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I am really impressed with its capabilities with ProRAW and Night mode. Many of the results displayed on my 12.9" iPad are indistinguishable from DSLR shots (I'm not claiming it's the equivalent of a DSLR). 4K video is beautiful.
