Afternoon all,

I enjoy doing panoramic images and want to improve and now looking for a panoramic head. However, obviously I dont want to spend a fortune.

What if any panoramic heads do people use?

Also any particular tips for panoramic images?

Here's one of my latest attempts.

I have a Really Right Stuff single-row pano set. It works great. I was lucky to get mine here for a really great price. From RRS it is rather expensive. It looks brand-new. Second-hand is ideal because there is little to go wrong with the equipment.
For taking panoramas, all you have to do is basically get the bubbles centered (which ensures the set-up is level). If using a short focal-length lens, you may need to find the no-parallax point (often called the nodal point) of the lens. With longer focal lengths, it is not as necessary (but won't hurt). For single row panoramas, once leveled it is as simple as rotating the camera. Remember to overlap the shots sufficiently for you panoramic software to stitch the photos together. Happy shooting.

I wanted to do multi row panos and interactive 360* panos so I purchased a Nodal Ninja NN6 head with a rotator. The rotator allows you to pre define a specific degree rotation so you don't have to eyeball your overlaps, you just rotate to the next click stop and shoot. There are a variety of degree settings, you have to figure out what you need for a particular lens field of view. Once I figured that out, I put that in the Notes on my phone so I always have the data with me.
