Yes I understood your thinking, my comment was in reference to the Twitter caption that says they were taken at the same place and at the same time.

Re your thinking, the moon does wander around a bit. One way to work out exactly where it will come up, or set or be at a particular time, is to use an app called The Photographer's Ephemeris. I'm sure there are other apps as well.

I am glad you did understand me!

Thank you, found the app!

Really beautiful capture! Amazing you managed to pull in Mercury and Jupiter that low through the smoky haze. I like you’ve got the full circle of the moon also.
Well done!

Thanks very much! Much appreciated.

I’d say I’m a novice at shooting the moon, currently using a 500mm Vivtar lens. Which is great for a beginner but I’d like something a little crisper, something easier to use for variety of things. I have been bouncing between the sigmas either the 100-400 or the 150-600. If any has other recommendations that’d be great!

I have Sigma 150-600mm Sports version (rock solid and reliable) for few yeas now and love it. I bought it for wildlife shooting and tried many times on Moon and deep sky objects like nebula's and Andromeda galaxy with good results. Used it to pair with Canon 5D III and ASI ZWO294MC Pro astro camera. Here is an example: https://photography-on-the.net …37&mg=187930&i=i164603755

Thank you PR. I did do a little "fine tuning" to the sharpness.
