But what is honest in photography? The camera only sees, but the human mind sees and interprets. And we don't necessarily interpret in the same way what we see in a photo and what we would see looking at the subject. So what should the photographer do? Show what the lens sees, or what the mind sees? Both can be valid. If in doubt, why not we stop to think why we are taking that picture, and then decide accordingly. Or do it both ways, like in this case.

I NEVER get into the debates of what is right or what is, as his wife says, "Cheating". To me, photography, in and of itself, is an art form. Art is subjective. I use to take shots and post process to please others. All that had me doing is following others and trying to duplicate what they do. Now, I shoot for me and the enjoyment of it. I try to stay true to the scene, but sometimes a scene is more about the feeling, rather than the physical attributes. For instance, I love the long exposure minimalist shots with the clouds movement captured and softly spread over the sky, the water smooth as silk. Is this what you see when taking a shot like that? That is a form of manipulation.

In this case, changing the color to capture what may have been felt at the moment, is staying true to the photographer.

To be honest.... It's not really important as long as the one taking the picture and post processing is happy with the end result. The rest of us are just lucky enough to enjoy it.

Both are great Huntnthyme1!!

Happy Shooting - Jamey

Colombo sunset, yesterday.
Just a shame that the passing ship wasn't a few seconds later.

Memories -- When I was a young teenager in Finland in the early fifties, one of my favourite radio programs was the hit parade of Radio Colombo, to which I listened on the shortwave radio my father had made me.

I don't know anything. But I know other things.
