Are there any common commercial uses for infrared photography other than the cool factor? Just curious.

Not sure about common, but a couple of years back my IR-converted 1D2 got borrowed by the local museum folks to photograph an Egyptian sarcophagus to try & record some very faded hieroglyphs. Was a very cool experience as I got to watch how they work & hopefully they've forgiven me for breaking a boom stand!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Perhaps not particularly commercial but there are loads of uses in forensics.
IR can see through many inks & can spot the difference in inks used to 'adjust' cheques etc.
With the correct lighting it can also be used for showing blood & other biological liquids on surfaces where cleaning/visual light obscures them.

I've had a few places where it's revealed things otherwise hidden, such as eyes behind sunglasses (and loosing all the advertising logos on the cat suits) in this shot:

It can show subcutaneous features including tattoos that have been removed, veins...

Showing distant features (the lower shot being IR compared to the top B&W)

It also been used a lot to show the health of plants...

And off course the ability to shoot in total darkness:
