Another one from my walkaround today... people should know better than to line up for Beaver Tails ever, and now even more than ever... but I guess they don't. (I'm saying that but it's not like I don't have my own guilty pleasures.)

Not sure if the queue is actually longer than usual, or if this is just an 'illusion' due to the physical distancing. One part of me likes seeing that place back in business, it was sad to see it open but deserted last year, then entirely closed.

Good shot indeed! What do you think of the 28-200? Do you get lens creep with it? I just got it myself, did my first walkaround with it today. Still getting weirdly unaligned shots, but that is with all my E lenses it seems, and looks like more of a Sony thing than anything else.

It is pretty good lens for the money. I don't see any creeping issues. Originally I never ever liked 24-105mm but I am mostly a portrait shooter who would use 85mm f1.4 or the 105mm f1.4. Then last yr with the lockdowns, I don't know what to shoot. Initially I did some food photography but after cooking I am tired of taking the shots. So then started into these landscapes but all local to me. I had Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 which I liked and after seeing another poster (MedicineMan) shots, I bought it. I don't see problems with it and it goes to 200mm compared to the 24-105mm GM. Yes you loose 4mm on wide end but I can use 23mm f4 on mg GFX (18-19mm equivalent) or the 24mm TSE on Sony or the GFX. If I stick with Sonly I might pick 20mm f1.8.

Hehe ok. I thought I experienced some lens creep, but that might have been me not paying attention. Otherwise, my experience/logic is pretty much like yours: I got the 28-200 to minimize lens swaps (I own both the 28-75 and the 70-180 2.8). Hopefully I'll get shooting some landscapes with it, and when opportunities come back I intend to use it as a studio lens, where the wider end just doesn't matter as much. I'm actually thinking of getting either and/or the 20 1.8 or the Tamron 17-28 f2.8.

I've never actively considered the Sony 24-105 because of its ridiculous cost.

Nice control over your speedlights Vinz. I think the best flash lighting are those that can't be seen.

Hmmm He was posing nice but it was a stretch for the 600mm needed the 1.4 to get better.

Snow out here is pretty rare. Hoping the power grid holds but it's a treat for the kids.

It’s nuts hearing about the power issues and snow out in Texas. Stay warm. We were -5 yesterday.

Lee, thought you might be interested in this. Would work for non-car photography too. Interesting way to use the LR filters and also made me realise there is more functionality to them that I wasnt even aware of. Could be used for landscapes too.

CaptureOne had all this and supports layers, so quite capable for someone like me who is doesn't even know basics of PS. I checked the video and LR stuff for luma range seems still less than what C1 offers. I can select range (hightlights, shadows, smoothness, falloff, radius etc for making the luma range mask). I know PS does all that better but PS is too complicated for me and does at pixel levels but C1 is doing at RAW level.

I finally did end up getting LR/CS subscription again as I got it on $7.50 sale but I have not yet dowloaded it.

Went again to Yountville (home of the French Laundry restaurant in the Napa Valley) yesterday. The weather was all gloomy with drizzle but I was thinking about Travis's last youtube and kept driving, saying at worst I will come back. As we reach there, weather turned out pretty good. Found this little spot closer to the highway and kids enjoyed their lunch while I took some shots.
