That's just 1 manufacturer. There are several popular manufacturers now as well as several varients such as turbo prop versions & those used for helicopters. We have many choices in heli's too. Here's one from way back when I first started covering the local events. Rotor span is 10 feet. It had issues at the event & wouldn't stay running which came down to a defective glow plug (the complete heli was new & this was the fist time any of us saw it.). I made arrangements with the owner that once he had if fixed & flying to PLEASE phone me so I could photograph it in the sky. I got the call a day or 2 later & rushed over to the club he belongs to which fortunately is a 2 Km drive from home.

When things return to normal locally & coast to coast here in Canada there are a lot of events during our flying season. Most are Fun Fly Events where it's a social event without any judging of the builds or the flying. My zone (Ottawa Valley, Zone G) is most likely the busiest or one of the busiest zones with at least 3 events per month. There are also judged aerobatic events held in many locations across Canada & the US but they don't offer a lot of photo ops because the performances are too far away from the flight line. Events are usually themed such as a Warbirds Fun Fly, Heli & Multi Rotor Fun Fly, Giant Scale Fun Fly (min wingspan of 84 inch but around 64 inches for Biplanes) plus we have an annual Zone Fun Fly open to just about anything anyone wants to fly. Jet events however are a bit different because the pilots want a good runway & very large area to fly over but many clubs can't hold these events because of the fire risk after a crash. There needs to be a fire station locally as well as a lot more open areas vs built up with homes or industrial buildings.

A skill is developed through constant practice with a passion to improve, not bought.

Lots of great pics here!!! You guys are really good.

So thought I'd post a few here myself as I do attend Airshows when I can. All in Southern California, Chino Airshow, March AFB had an Airshow in 2016 which was a lot of fun. I mainly do WWII fighter Warbirds as my father was an Aircraft mechanic in WWII in the South Pacific. These two images were taken at the March AFB Airshow (2016) I brought two models with me for some fun Pin-up images. I just asked them to wear crop tops and jean shorts, I had the Crusher hat and Mae West vest. And if you're not familiar with my style I use photoshop to try and make the images look Painted or Illustrated.

These are great, nicely done. I'm also from SoCal and visit the same shows. I'm curious, do you shoot these before or after the show ends?
I bet your dad had lots of stories to tell.

All show goers here in the U.K. are going to be disappointed again this year as it was announced yesterday that RIAT has been cancelled again for this year. But they also said that anyone with tickets for last year or this that the tickets will still be valid for next year 2022.

This year would have been the 50th, but they hope to have a special bash next year as it's the 50th anniversary for the USAF. Here's hoping?

My ambition for a good while is to grow old disgracefully. So far my wife tells me that I am doing really well!

I actually take them during the show. I always try and find the owner of the aircraft first to gt permission and I always introduce them to the model, that usually seals the deal :) The crowds can be a problem but I just photoshop them out. Here's an example, Before and after.
