Before and After - The Weekly Editing Challenge

Good image to work with.
Aurora HDR, then to Luminar: cropped, altered optics, straightened, removed a few foreground distractions. Lots of potential for silvers in this one so converted to greyscale and then played with all the colours and the contrast until I stopped on one of the combinations I liked.

1. PL4
2. SNS-HDR
3. Photoshop > straighten > increase color temp a bit > replace sky

Everyone did a great job with the edits. Thanks for participating.

I had Martin, Rob, Mark, and Mozes in a 4 way tie for second, they were all that good.

A special note to Rob, had you done a selective color edit, but going B&W like you did, and just kept the fountain blue, you could of taken the win.

This was shot raw with a Canon 30D, so it's only 8.2 Mpx. I know there's plenty of "juice" in it, because I created a much brighter and more colorful version that I had printed and framed for my cousin (who built the cabin). I'll post that version at the end so as not to influence anyone. Have at it!

Congrats everyone - and a good win. And thanks for fountain suggestion. Hadn't thought of that but I like the idea.

Took the above and applied a preset: B&W Night City Blue. I downloaded this custom preset from the DXO users forum.

Well Mark, it looks like I may not participate in this one. When I saw the original my first thought was to do a late afternoon shot with a little pinkness in the sky. My second thought was to do a black and white in early or late evening with a dramatic sky. You beat me to the punch on both. now I'll have to see if I can come up with something different.

That's a nice start, but don't stop with a preset. Turn on some lights and make it a home!
