Great capture, Tom!

Black necked stilt @ 1120mm.
I wish the beak and right wing weren't aligned like this, but it's the only shot I got in decent focus of one of these dudes in flight.

Nice one, Gary. That eagle had to be pretty lucky to nab the pintail. The pintail may have been wounded by a duck hunter...then it would be easy prey for a raptor.

Thanks, Mike. This Eagle stole this already dead duck from a Harrier who had claimed it. Eagles are very good at catching birds in flight, as I have seen many times over the years.

Very nice, Dave. I'm curious if focus has to hunt.

Reported as of yesterday was 10,000 but I personally think definitely more than that. The morning departure were more than 3 hours and not all of them flew away

Thanks ! :-)

Bill, surprisingly it does pretty well in the icy, foggy conditions. I’ve been having more trouble lately, shooting harriers in a brown, dead sunflower field. I’ve missed a few good opportunities where the camera wasn’t able to pick up the bird. To be fair though, it is a tough contrast, with a lot of straight, brown stalks.
