Over 6000 posts to catch up, aint gonna happen! Not been able to pursue photography as much as I'd like. Also a back log off processing. Was part of the sweep team on the recently concluded Dubai Baja2021. Managed to grab a few shooting opportunities though couldn't pick the best spots.

Thanks, Lee. That did it. I have been pasting into the embed image space. Appreciate the help.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

Exactly what I've been doing as well and no EXIF. Will try directly as suggested.

So the A9ii arrived yesterday but only got round to actually opening it this morning due to work yesterday. Still need to sort through the menu settings as it’s still setup the way the previous owner had it but straight of the bat I’m noticing the ergonomic improvements compared to my a7riii!! The grip height seems perfect for my hand now so no more pinky dangling off the bottom. The deeper grip is nice too and there seems to be less of a pinch point between the lens barrel and the grip which would sometimes be uncomfortable with fatter lenses like my 135. The improved AF-ON and joystick is nice too, in fact all the buttons seem to be just that bit more finessed than previous (I believe the a7riv has these improvements too?). The RTT in my VERY limited use so far seems amazing, really sticky eye AF compared to my a7riii. Not sure if I’m doing it the best way yet but I’ve set it to flexible spot tracking and just keep it in the middle, I then activate focus with my subject on the middle and then recompose and let the tracking do it’s thing, means I don’t need to change the focus point location ever, I’ll see how that goes.

Anyway, pretty pointless post but excited to get a new (to me) camera. The thing is absolutely mint so I’ve definitely got a bargain as it’s basically the price of the mark 1 and has 215 mechanical shutter actuations

Edit - was trying to work out if I needed to buy a Sony tough G UHS ii card for it but my UHS-I card seems fast enough. Will test it more and see if it is, might start hitting the buffer depending on what I’m shooting

Nice one, that will keep up with the kids !
Has the firmware been updated, I have version 2.0 I cant remember what the changes are.
You need the high speed card if your shooting with bursts at 10fpm the UHS ii cards are a write speed of 299MBit/Sec. and you can still have to wait, with a long burst.

Just checked that there and it is on ver 2.0 firmware so looks up to date. So if I try and shoot 10fps or faster with the UHS-I card I have will it default to a lower fps or will it just fill the buffer quicker?

Thanks

Well I have had the a1 for 4 days and it exceeds my expectations for birding ( my main use ) eye AF works really well and even if it does not find the eye the AF still gives a sharp shot the camera is very fast and almost instantly gets focus on the bird even with a cluttered back ground .

I've done quite a few bursts on pidions and nearly all are sharp like take 40 shots 2 are just a tad soft so for me it is a nice upgrade to my a9mkII and that is still a great camera but in the end bird eye AF, faster response and more MPs for cropping makes it my perfect birding camera .

It takes the buffer longer to empty, as its writing at a slower speed.

A1 is almost perfect as it has 1/400 sync speed which is great and awesome EVF. But I still don't like Sony keeps same crappy LCD on the back which doesn't flip when shooting portrait mode. Maybe Sony crowd doesn't shoot in portrait mode.

The other camera in same league for me is Fuji GFX100s. Almost perfect for slow down photography but they did the Canon thing of not having the tiltable EVF like current GFX models and also going to lower res EVF. I know they made it way cheaper than previous model but for $6k camera, another $500 is not a big deal.

So right now just staying tight even though I can get a nice discount on A1.

For those of you interested in DJI's new FPV drone, here's iPhonedo taking it out for a spin for the first time. He even learns how to do a flip. I'm amazed at the speeds attained by this drone too. 0 to 60 mph in 2 seconds and a top speed of 87 mph.
