Sunsets (at least IMO) usually look better 15-20 minutes after the sun is under the horizon. The top shot looks very nice.

I agree that the top photo is really nice, but gets a little lost with all that empty sky. I'd suggest cropping off the top third of the image, the cropped pano type result really draws you into the picture, in my opinion!

Oh I just mean I haven’t been taking many photos, and (very related to that) I’m still not feeling super comfortable with the Sony (I shot Canon for a long time)...

Heya folks - I cannot seem to get into a good rhythm with my new Sony (at least I still consider it new, haha)...

Here’s the same pile o rocks in Utah from two different perspectives - one sunrise and one sunset. Just kind of giving my eye some practice. (Feedback of all kinds v welcome!)

Yet another reason to upgrade my 8-year old PC...that sort of thing is computationally challenging.

I’m hoping Apple will unveil a new iMac this year utilizing their awesome in-house processors. Been wanting a Mac for decades and it’s getting close to be a great time to jump in.

David, Photoshop CC now runs natively on the M1 processor. Pretty cool.

Earlier this week an excellent photographer on FM captivated my interest in a color profile prduct by Cobalt.

I tried it out and it has solved a long-running problem I’ve had with certiain colors on my Sony a7R II. For some reason some magentas/purples/reds would be so hopelessly out of displayable gamut that my only solution was to dial back the saturation. The Cobalt profiles successfully shift the colors into displayable gamut, which recovers other-wise lost detail. It’s expensive ($50 usd), but I’m very happy with the results.

Image on the left is the original from a scan I did a long time ago. On the right is the 'enhanced resolution' version. I set up ACR to open jpgs in the raw editor so I could apply the enhance feature. For the heck of it, I also applied 'auto' adjustments in the basic editor. Once I opened back in PS CC 2022, I sharpened the enhanced version using Topaz Sharpen AI and then placed the two side by side.

The new enhance resolution feature does increase image size by 2x with a max of 6500 pix on the long side. Of course, that means it also increases noise, etc too so I think those issues should be corrected before applying any enhancement. I didn't do any cleanup on the original before I applied this feature.

This photo was taken in July of 1963 just before the three of us enlisted in the US Navy. The fellow on the left failed to pass the medical exam but Jim, in the middle, and I were on our way to the greatest adventure of our lives.

Sounds like there using AI. I wonder if it's similar to Topaz's Gigia-pixel AI?

The examples show older Sony cameras and all comparison with Adobe which is not the best product color wise (compared to say CaptureOne). I have seen examples on FM but then those are typically heavily processed.
