So then - I lightened exposure in a 3-pass version to bring out the inside walls etc, saved it with a new name and re-combined it with itself (before lightening). My computer is still calculating the number of potential permutations I could try ... .

Really like what you've done so far with this version. Perhaps you could also address the perspective issues a bit.

Agreed - needs that and a bit of cropping, and maybe a lick of paint and a sweep, depending on your objectives, but I was looking at what the unassisted software would do with the light and contrast. Aim was to do nothing except loop the results back through the HDR program. Only intervention was on one image to lighten and merge/feed back once more. HDR-wise I think the last one was not bad for just that, though at that point it's starting to pick up some processing artifacts. Much better than the 7-image single pass at keeping the outside and the inside balanced. At that point one would go to work on the other elements. An experiment.

Have to add, though, that for doing a great job on the inside light while preserving outside-the-window, Stiga's does it for me.

The faded blue of the rug seemed out of place to me, so I played around with the color -- and ran the carpet sweeper on it!

Awesome edits this week everyone. It's been very interesting to me to see the different versions of this scene. It's been extremely difficult for me to decide which edit I liked best. Having said that, I'm going with Stiga's edit as appearing the most natural to me.

As a side note, this house is supposed to be a site of paranormal activity, including paranormal orbs. I've never seen one but when I learned of this, I did an edit of my nighttime version where I 'moved' the Moon seen through the window into the parlor as my take on what an 'orb' might look like. :)

I look forward to the next challenge offered by Stiga.

Not spooky, but another night version ... just for fun (added a few lamps).

That could be a problem, Gene but many thanks for passing the torch to me. What with Covid lockdown and winter, I have not got much recent stuff but I will search the archives.

I completely understand. I had to go back to 2011 to find the 'Parlor' sequence. The original exif shows 2011-05-21 09:11:20 as the time and date taken.

Congrats Martin, A shout out to Peano for cleaning up the walls, and the ghost in the room was also cool.

Congratulations to Stiga. Liked all the shots, both super natural and supernatural. Again, I admire the talent here.
