Exactly right. If you’re truly in manual aperture, shutter, and iso modes then the EC can’t do anything. But as soon as you switch to AutoISO, then the EC wheel has something to do.

Thanks. That is what I thought, and what I experience on my a9..well all 3 of the bodies...but some knucklehead in the a9 group went all educator on me and told me I have no clue what I am talking about and clearly don't understand how the camera works...and I thought...have I got mine setup in some way that is different...basic logic says...if you control the 3 elements...the EC wheel is dormant...this is why I avoid trying to help sometimes...one guy even chimed in that if you use Auto ISO the EC wheel works...and I agreed...I wanted to tell him that once you are in Auto ISO...you are technically no longer in full manual...but it would have been lost.

It’s funny, I always think if I lived in the States I’d always be at all the amazing national parks for the photo opportunities but then I remember people travel from all over the world to photograph places in Scotland that I can’t be bothered driving to :)

When I drove to visit my sister a few years ago, the drive was 2,550 miles not including the side trip I took to northern Illinois. It was a five day drive each way. :-)

And some don't remember if they have 'Live View Preview' setting effect on or off. If it's off, you won't see a change in the viewfinder no matter what you change. I set it to 'on' whenever I use flash so I can be sure where my ambient exposure is, especially if I want to eliminate the background. Then I turn it back on to focus and shoot.

That's one of the features I really like on the Sony. I can see in the viewfinder what my exposure changes are doing through the viewfinder in real time.

Sorry Gene. I am not following it. Sony to me does it the wrong way. The moment flash trigger is there, you can't see the ambient, which is major pain. I already have LV Settings ON/OFF for when I shoot in studio. But when I shoot outside I want to see my ambient exposure as I dial in my settings (mostly ss, as I am using shooting f2 and ISO is 100). Today I just added a custom button to have this Shot Preview ON/OFF so I can judge ambient exposure when shooting with strobes. I shouldn't need to have this. Camera should show correct ambient by default whether trigger is there or not.

Only A1 fixes this issue with Sony cameras.

It's been a while since I've used flash. I'll check it out tomorrow and see where my confusion is on the subject.

Thanks for mentioning this.

You only have to drive for an hour and you are in another country ;-)a

Technically, half an hour to that border which is mid way across the bridge ;) The Brecon's is actually closer/quicker than North Devon, Jurassic Coast, Dartmoor.....

I guessed I would be out on the travel time. For me getting to Hereford (for work) is 3.5 to 4 hrs. Once we can travel, I'm hoping to get to Brecon and get some photos at 4 waterfalls, but its the one near by, I would like to see. The only waterfall I have near me is when a sluice gate is over flowing in the drainage ditch.
