I was going to post this in the "post your film shots", but didn't want to clog a picture sharing thread with a review. If you are interested I this film than you probably already know about it's quirks. I have watched about 30 YouTube videos (not exaggerating) & learned some things. I've forgotten how secretive we photographers are about our technics
. Every vlogger shared some settings/tricks/techniques but not all. I learned my greatest lesson by accident. I was watching a video with a young German photographer (she was very good btw) walking around at night with a friend shooting this film. When she paused to take a picture, she would also show the resulting image immediately instead at the end. Her first 4 or 5 pictures looked awesome. Then she said something in German to her friend & she put the translation at the bottom. She said she was upset because this film is rated 800 ISO but she accidently set her camera to 100 ISO. She then set her camera to 800 ISO and every shot after that sucked! So, this film is a light whore...
I set my camera to 400 ISO & allowed my camera on a tripod to meter the scene. After the first shot @ 400 ISO I turned the exposure compensation dial to +1 for shot 2. Shot 3 was then +3, so basically 100 ISO. Even at 400 ISO it's dark, muddy, and has a lot of grain or noise or grunge, I don't know what to call it. This all amazing disappears at +2 & +3. I can give this advice on shooting it but when it comes to post production it is completely subjective to your tastes. With adjusting the WB alone you can go from one extreme look to another. I didn't do too much pp, I stopped as soon as I got a look I liked. I'll post some examples, it will take a post or two as I have no idea how to post more than 2 shots at a time...
