Me and my kid brother and wheat bread and butter and freshly picked blueberries. Looks like it was a cold day and maybe with some rain. Father's photo.

Not what you would normally call a pretty boat Ray.

Also, what happened to the 'sharp end'? In fact which end would normally be classified as the old fashioned sharp end -?-?

That's some ship.
I'm curious if that tug could actually tow it?
Probably daft question so go easy

They’re not really very pretty, John, I agree. But this one seems lightly loaded, maybe it has come to collect some of our exports, but more likely bringing foreign imports in. We get quite a few of these every week. I usually photograph them for the marine traffic website and get plenty of requests from shipping companies for pictures of their ships.

Well, John, I am sure an astute veteran like your good self will realise the sharp end is (or used to be) the opposite end to the blunt end. Usually the chimney is at the blunt end - if it is not in the middle, that is.:-) just like one of your aircraft, the propellers are at the front, unless they are at the back.-?

Hi Richard, I was just composing a reply to John when your response popped up.

These tugs are capable of assisting these ships. The tugs are very powerful and there is usually two tugs manoeuvring a big ship onto or off of its berth. Port charges, coupled with the tugs and pilotage run into mega bucks and have to get absorbed into the importation costs. I can’t remember the figures I was quoted some time ago.

That's a good way to pay for your hobby Ray, good for you mate!

As far as blunt and sharp? I wasn't really being stern or prow-ed

Or either side, for the props that is

Not sure where to post this, but a fascinating find of an intact old life boat.
Found in the rafters of old barn
All that remains of The Maid of Lincoln which was wrecked and sunk off Jurien Bay, Western Australia in 1891
