For #648, I want to “Climb every Mountain”. Show me your scenic majesty, does not have to have climbers LOL.

This challenge begins when posted and ends on Monday, March 29nd at midnight GMT. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Challenge Rules:

1. Camera: Any DIGITAL CAMERA is allowed, not just DSLR.
2. Time: Any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size: Please visit Image Posting Rules.
4. Post Processing: Do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting: ONE PHOTO per photographer per challenge. List camera model & lens used. Post brief EXIF data: ISO, shutter speed and aperture.
6. Commenting: No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Keep it clean, and both Family and Work safe.
8. Have questions, PM me.
9. Have lots of FUN!

* THE WINNER ALWAYS SETS THE THEME FOR THE NEXT CHALLENGE, POSTS IT AND JUDGES IT - BE PREPARED!

Y'all certainly took me to new heights with the photos! Awesome job EVERYONE!

Winner has to be Martin (Stiga) ... just WOW! Excellent image. A very close second was Rob (RDWP).

Don't know where you two were standing when you made those snaps, but amazing images.

Thanks everyone for contributing.

Take it away Martin - what's next?

Well, thank you, thank you, Jerry

As for my location, I was standing outside the Guido Lorenzi Refuge (2.932 m) in the Monte Cristallo mountains near Cortina d'Ampezzo. Do look at this photo (external link) of the refuge and the adjacent Via Ferrata. I did not set foot on the iron rout!!!! Nor did I climb all the way up there. I took two lifts. The firs was a very civilised char lift but the next one was the distinctly dodgy pod- lift which you had to enter while it was still moving. Here it is viewed from near the refuge.

A great shot, Rob. Snowy mountains usually trump rocky mountains but Jerry disagrees!

Thank you, but no - a very deserved win. Never visited the Dolomites but will add it to my list, in case I every get to travel again ... . I like your lift shot, too. My pic was taken from the relative comfort of a plane - though it was a small one, flying low. The glaciers in the fjords below calve some of the hundreds of icebergs that sail south to my Province each year (tourism plug). Maybe even the source of the Titanic's.

Enjoyed all the mountains - and thanks to Jerry.
