When I see old houses like this, I feel that I would like to go up and knock on the door and
say "Hello, anybody home? How about a chat about what life was like here."
'Hoping' that maybe the spirit of one of the family will come out and have a chat with me.

Wonder what that vine creeping about the lower one does to all the ornate work under the eaves.
A lot of effort went into that.

Exactly. Look at the trunks of those vines! :eek: They're as thick as a man's leg. My guess is that vine removal is either underway or was at one time, as there is no growth left. Some judicious cuts to the base of the trunk(s) would take care of that, but damage can be quite severe from something that size, and can destroy a once-proud old house.
