I almost missed this chap, secreted in the undergrowth in his enclosure...

Years ago I visited a sanctuary in North Vancouver where they kept grizzly bears and a pack of wolves in separate enclosures. Some genius decided they could share the same space and the grizzly tore two of the pack to pieces in front of families. Really, really dumb...

That’s too bad. You would think the handlers would have known better.

They SHOULD have known better. The pack never recovered and when I last went there was just the lone Alpha, who was apparently, in human years about 105. He was fairly deaf and was easily startled, poor old fellow...

How very sad, for that older wolf.

We've had some very successful reintroductctions of Timber Wolves to our ecology
around here, most notably, on the few islands within Lake Michigan.
Isle Royale is one successful place.

Thank you. It’s a Puma and the picture was taken at The Big Cat Sanctuary in the UK during one of their photographic days.

The Sanctuary is not open to the public as such but offer “experiences” which raise funds and I try to visit at least once a year.

This Kaka insisted in hanging out in the dark remote sections of his enclosure. Very friendly though!
