For those lucky ones who make it to NZ from the outside world, they have to go through 14 days of managed isolation, during which they have minimal contact with anyone, let alone the outside world. Walking through the city I espied this person waiting out their time, in a lonely room, high above freedom and society below, and obviously feeling the pressure...

I hope you had this person's permission. Laws vary and particular circumstances are often debatable but, for me, the window glass in a residential dwelling creates a reasonable expectation of privacy.

George that may be an issue over where you live but not in New Zealand. Someone can take photos of anyone unless they have a reasonable expectation that that location would be private - i.e. a toilet, changing room etc. Sitting by an open window in a hotel in full view of the public does not fall into those categories.
Furthermore, to be considerate, I took care to shoot from an angle where the person could be recognized.

We’ll I’ve had my new RX10iv for just over a month and have been enjoying the reach and resolution of this nicely portable camera. I used to shoot 95% jpegs but noticed the ones I saved often had a little bit of post processing ( cropping,contrast, saturation etc. ). With the RX10iv I’ve decided that to get the most out of it’s dynamic range I now shoot jpeg/raw and since I often did a little post processing to my keeper jpegs then processing the raw file would be about the same. I use Capture One Express for Sony and I have a pre-set adjustment I use when importing the raw file which brings it very close to what the in camera jpeg would look like with the advantage of the much higher dynamic range and resolution which helps with opening up shadows and obtaining much more detail.

Haven't posted on these forums for a good long time; after a lost decade testing every conceivable form of camera and finally coming to understand that I actually enjoyed putting cameras through their paces more than I enjoyed photography for a long time. I decided a while back that enough was enough, sold all my full frame and mirrorless gear and decided to spend a while with only an RX10iv to see what I could get out of it. Took me absolutely forever to get used to the autofocus (and to be fair I'm still not convinced that I've got it how I like it) and it irritates me that I don't seem to be able to set up a back button focus quite as I'd like, but after a few weeks working with it I'm starting to get a feel for it. Amazing what can be achieved with a small sensor these days, as long as you're prepared to sacrifice the sort of narrow depth of field at wider angles you get from larger sensored cameras (and, if you like long exposures, are prepared to pay for a 13 or 16 stop ND to work against the f/8 limit to avoid diffraction).
