It was a sparrow-y day yesterday. Got to photograph 4 species of New World sparrows (white-crowned, lark, chipping and, for the first time after several years, Brewer's), and heard two more (clay-colored and spotted towhee).

Lark Sparrow:

White-crowned Sparrow: (love these stripey-capped guys!)

Chipping Sparrow:

and finally, an unexpected find. Last time I saw a Brewer's sparrow was in Yellowstone a few years ago. Not a great shot because it was in the shadows.

Brewer's Sparrow:

Nice collection of sparrows.

A *really* rare visitor showed up today; lighting is awful in a couple due to time of day, but the high contrast at least highlights the incredible colors in these little guys!

Great set of the Mandarin, Eric. This is on my short list of "wants" right next to fotoi's and Mike's wood ducks!

[QUOTE=avondale87;19219211]

Love these snow environs photos.
Both very nicely composed.

Excellent work, very easy for me anyway to blow out all that white. you were able to capture the snow and the white feathers plus retain their sharpness.
