One thing I don't like about all these youtubers is shooting with a camera at arms length. Do they do this to show us the viewer what they shooting or they just shoot like that or maybe this a cool way to shoot? I have seen some well known model shooters do same and to me I wouldn't never do that. But then I won't be using my 70-200mm f2.8 with hood reverse and silly filter on it either.

I think it's more of a POV thing. So the viewer can see what they are doing etc

Yeah I compose off the rear lcd a lot these days. Easier to frame at different heights quickly without having to squat and stuff. I really only use the EVF if there is a lot of sunlight.

I do it sometimes too. I find it lets you use your peripheral vision and then you can anticipate things coming in to the scene etc. You kind of lose that with the EVF at your eye. I’m still probably 90% evf though having said that

Nice one Vinz! Sigma 105? It really pops off my screen.

I just ordered my a7S III last night. Super-excited.

I’ve been really impressed with Adobe’s super-res, but I need to circle back and compare it directly to Topaz Gigapixel AI, which I have but haven’t used as much. I’ve seen some videos that seem to show that Gigapixel AI does a better job. Regardless this AI imaging tech is amazing and offers me the exact thing I want most: a low res camera that can be a virtual high res camera when I want.

One thing that impresses me so much with Sony’s latest bodies is the color science looks so much better to my eyes. I’ve always had this gnawing temptation to slink back to the Canon ecosystem (colors and ergonomics), but Sony has done a real nice job of responding to both.

I'm legit 90% off rear lcd. Travis has seen me shoot.

It's not anything I specifically set out to do...probably just a habit I picked up shooting my kids all the time. They're not at my eye level, so if want to quickly snap something and not miss it, good rear lcd shooting form is good to develop. It's just faster overall for me.

It's helpful for posed portraiture too. Easier to give direction when your face is not buried behind the camera, and yes helpful for seeing what is outside the frame to help with composition.

YMMV though! No right or wrong way to shoot so long as you get the results!

Looks really good vinz. Looks plenty sharp to me and it'd be a great photo at 12mp too!

More thoughts on my FE 24-105mm: I loooove it!!

I took my FE 24-105mm for a bicycle ride from my house to the lake and snapped some images along my way. The lens' focal range is absolutely ideal for this purpose. Also, sharp into the corners...I like that.

Two of my favorite lenses from my Canon days were the 17-40 and 24-105, both f4 lenses. I now have the Sony 16-35 and 24-70 f4 lenses but I often think about selling the 24-70 for the 24-105.

I'm happy to now live a bike ride away from the lake, and the 24-105mm is easy to bring along. I still need to work out some way to strap on my sleek/slim Peak Design tripod to the bike frame so I can bring that out to the lake as well.
