I would say arguing.
Cockatoos can get very irate at anything that threatens their territory.

That's a great shot.

Unless there is food involved.
These guys turned up in the back yard one day .

Wow, the way they are all gathered around, cockatoo king. Could have an army of guard cockatoos.

Wow - that's just crazy! Having all of those adult wild cockatoos just show up & be that tame is amazing. Are you near a large park?

the family of Tasmanian Native Hen were resting in the lee of some shrubbery and posed beautifully today
there was some chin-wagging going on for a while but eventually they settled down

Heading off at 5 am tomorrow morning to drive 2500 klm's to a property in far north queensland
that we have just purchased . 7 acres in Julatten, a renowned bird watchers area .
The property is sign posted Birdlovers cottage and has previously been a popular B&B destination.
We spent a few weeks there recently to get the house and cabin set up but had very little time to
take shots.

Hi Ben, very envious of your purchase. Although I know what these birds are, most on POTN are from the other side of the world and would not be familiar with them. Might be good to provide names so people can look them up if interested or just learn the names of new birds, just as I've learnt about Northern Hemisphere birds on here. Great photos though.

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

Hahaha Thanks Pippan, trouble is.........I dont know what they are myself.
Only just started to take bird shots recently. More of a reptile person really.
Apart from the pigeon and the little blue kingfisher, the rest are honey eaters
but when I tried to look them up there are many similar looking ones so I thought
I would wait till i'm more familiar with them. Plenty of time to learn.

Oh no worries at all. That's what I get for assuming. As far as I can tell they are, in order:
white-cheeked honeyeater
bridled honeyeater
brown honeyeater
graceful honeyeater
forest kingfisher (male)
bar-shouldered dove

Still waiting for the wisdom they promised would be worth getting old for.

wow, thanks Pippan. Amazing that there were 4 different honeyeaters in the one bush at the same time right next to the house.
The little forest kingfishers are all around the property every day.
Very excited to get back there.
Lots and lots of reptiles there as well.

The bush looks like one of the Calliandras and no doubt it's producing lots of nectar to attract those honeyeaters (and thereby get pollinated). I went to Julatten once, over 40 years ago in my hitchhiking days; just sort of ended up there. My recollection is of a conservative dairying community. I had no idea it was a birding Mecca.

Amazing place and such beautiful birds.
Yes it really is a showpiece of our magnificent and colourful birds you have so beautifully photographed.
Thanks for sharing and look forward to many more to come.

Enjoy your new bird paradise. You are very fortunate to have acquired such a hideaway.

a couple from tonight.
A Brown Falcon was at top of a gum tree surveying the scene and then I found its mate on the ground with perhaps a rabbit.
It was unperturbed by my presence, but I was on the other side of the fence. It looked at me then continued to eat unabated.

these Plovers live at an intersection just up the road from me.
They hog the road, love sitting in the traffic island and are completely at ease with traffic
Today I pulled up on the side road and there were about a dozen of them and then the orchestra started.
No idea what it was all about but with no traffic in sight I just sat and enjoyed their antics
