She is looking to build out a website as a life coach. At my home studio. Mola Beauty dish (small one) 7' Westcott umbrella behind the camera, white reflector out of frame bouncing up the key light for fill.

From a branding session for a motivational speaker. Her website color theme was a black background.

I'm thankful that I can be a full-time headshot photographer. While it'd be nice to shoot models and actors everyday, I do get to photography and work with "civilians" in their headshots. It's important to them, most of the time. It seems to me, if I perform my function well, people leave my camera feeling better about themselves. That's no small thing even if it's just for a little while. I'm finding more and more folks want something other than a gray background. This company settles on their building's lobby. It'd be nice to get the green by shooting outside but weather would be prohibitive much of the time. On this day the wind would've been really hard to work with.

I know what you mean. Sometimes I take it out other times not. I think the key is how big the eye itself is.
What bothers me is that it's a dead center catch, more or less.
So it starts to look like a speedlight even though the lighting isn't a speed light.

The other thing that produces that catch is a ringlight as a fill light. Dan Winters often used that. I've heard him talk about it.

thanks so much for the feedback! So helpful!

Here's one from my archives. It was a branding session so we tried different colors. Be curious to know folk's thoughts.
