I purchased a second-hand copy of this lens last year when a co-worker was switching systems and selling off his EF mount gear. After using the lens for quite some time now, I've learned that it tends to back focus on bodies with lesser AF systems (5D classic, 70D, 80D), while bodies with more advanced AF (7DII and 5DIV) stay much closer to what I'd expect as a centered focus plane.

Even still, I've come to love the IQ and the overall look the lens can deliver. Seeing as there's already quite a few cat photos in this thread, I figured I'd share one of my own. :-) Here's Tika, looking especially glamorous as she enjoys an unseasonably warm spring afternoon on our deck this year. Shot with the OG 5D here, and only minimal edits applied. I'm normally not a strong backlight + flare guy, but I couldn't deny the artsy appeal of this shot.

I had previously used this on a 7DII (still do) but I like it even more when used on my R6.

Here is one from a recent track meet as dusk was setting in.

I typically use this lens for shooting people and pets, but it also works pretty well as a medium tele for larger wildlife. Here's one from last fall - a white-tailed buck shot with the 7D2, 70-200 G2 and a 1.4x TC (I believe I updated the metadata correctly here for the site, but do know that this specific combo doesn't report correctly in-camera - the camera thinks it's a 2x TC).

Considering how awesome I think his lens is, it surprises me how little love it gets in this forum :-D

I love mine. Can't see a reason to sell it for the Canon version...

I've now had mine for nearly 3 years (dec 2019)
I've been using it on the R5 now for about two years, (before it was on the 5D4) and it's been flawless. It's just been perfect.
