Fake news ... first official club matches 31st October !

We have been training for weeks (limited) and are doing city v country Selection matches 2 weeks before then.

Nothing argumentative there Laird. My conundrum is the two teams local to me, in different leagues, both have home fixtures on the same dates. It'll be a coin toss for who I shoot so not good. Same for soccer too, 2 local teams both playing home games on the same day as the rugby, so they'll be a scratch.

Got some touch rugby going on Thursday evening and Saturday afternoon. Be good to get snapping again. Will probably use the 70-200 2.8 and 5D4 Thursday to maximise the available candle lit floods:-

For the first time in a very long time we have 3 senior teams. My conundrum is ... my lad might make his senior debut for the 3rds .... and they are away for first match!!

road trip it is then, can't miss the lads debut. we get a lot of stick from the wifes old club saying the grandsons team are the only ones in the country at under 11 with their own physio and photographer. family first.

Any news on the rugby front with lockdown lifting imminently. Was hoping the local club might set up a few out of season “friendlys” With no motorsport and rugby, action has been a little sparce. Made the jump to mirrorless, so desperate to get out there and start snapping again. No more upgraditus for me, according to my sponsors, barclaycard.

The jump to mirrorless, pray, tell more. I did the same 2 years ago with Olympus.

As to rugby, my lad is the caretaker at our local club (gap year before Uni .. perhaps!!) and I am on coaching team. So in Scotland, no plans announced but I know SRU and clubs are talking each week. Hoping for some "fun" summer rugby type thing.

Made the jump to an R5. I should have done it instead of getting the 5D4 but I have some newish L series glass that sort of stopped me. Thankfully not lost out too much financially as I’ve only dropped £200 on the 5D4 body and grip. Got lucky with a price issue on the grip and the body was from Panamoz.

Going to use the L series glass for now with the control ring adapter, though my priority will be to get hold of the 100-500 RF lens as I miss the extra reach I got with my 100-400 and a cropped sensor.

It’s down to me now to get the shots, can’t blame my gear, or indeed the light, rain, wrong snow, leaves on line etc lol

Nice gear .. I just sold all my 5D3, and all my L lenses and have gone for Fuji GFX50R for static type shots. Blown away by the quality of Image and starting to print again after a long while doing onscreen only.

Olympus for anything that moves like wildlife and sports. If I had not gone Olympus route I would have been gone with R5 too.

First time shooting rugby here in the States in almost a year and a half.....felt good to be back out there.

Well with the lockdown easing, and hugging (or what the back call tackling) allowed from Monday, full contact will start again soon for clubs outside the pro game.

My team will start training at end of June again.... cannot wait !!
