Trip to Iceland - what to bring?

I am heading to Iceland for the first time at the end of August for a 5 day trip and would welcome some advice on what to bring. I am planning to bring my Sony a6300 and I just have the kit lenses (16-50 & 55-210). I want to buy a lens or two to bring with me to cover all my needs. I was thinking of the Sony 18-105 f/4 and the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 (for the northern lights - I’m hopeful). Is this a good combo? Any other recommendations?

Also prior to this trip I’m heading with my family to Florida and disney so I want to enjoy these same lenses for that trip.

I’m no pro photographer, just an amateur who need to brush up on her skills :)

You already own two lenses which span the range of 16mm-210mm..what specifically does the present combination NOT DO, which causes you to want/need to buy a new lens? I speculate that you are after fast max aperture 16mm, and then simply a lens to complement the 16mm.

Recommendations for photos of Aurora borealis on the web are to use f/2.8-f/4, and NOT to use WIDER than f/2.8 !

Thanks for the comment. In general I’m looking to upgrade my kit lens for better quality and constant aperture.

Peony.
My go to Travel kit consists of constant f/4 lenses as they are smaller and lighter than their f/2.8 counterparts and also have Image Stabilization.
As a Canon user, my European Travel kit, including Iceland, is the 16-35 f/4 L IS, 24-70 f/4 L IS and the 70-200 f/4 L IS II. This “Greek Trilogy” has worked from Reykjavik to the Parthenon and all of the dark Cathedrals and Basillicas Hand Held and Bracketed in between. If I had to bring only two, the 24-70 would stay home…but I don’t have to as yet.
Look for Sony equivalents and start investing in new glass to take advantage of the constant Aperture if possible.
Have fun in Iceland.

Thanks so much for the suggestions. I will look for these focal lengths. Great to hear your experience and what worked well. Very much looking forward to this trip.

Some warm clothes! I heard storms there are terrifying. But that's so cool, the landscapes are something unearthly.

Probably the coolest place I've been. As far as gear, nothing is going to be able to capture what you see. Its like Yellowstone 100 years ago without the people. I didn't see lots of natural animals other than puffins. Other than that, it is icelands own brand of horses. The settings are just amazing though. I am pretty sure everything I shot was at the wide end. A good light tripod... a remote release to go with that. and maybe some water protection for your gear. I had a camera rain coat. But again, unless your really good and have lots of patience, your camera will only do the vistas justice. I look back at my own shots, and they just trigger great memories. Take your sense of adventure, and you'll have a great time.
