What are you all using to edit your pics with this system? I can't use my original, classic Lightroom and LR CC is about to drive me right 'round the bend.

Download The Adobe DNG Converter, which is free. Use the converter to convert CR3 to dng files; it's lightening fast, ~1 sec per file. The resulting dng can be handled by your original LR....at least my LR 5 does.

That's how I do it with my LR6. Just an additional step but pretty quick.

So, I attempted that right off the bat. What I ran into, though, was that for some reason LR still treated the converted dngs differently. Could not do any type of lens correction or make any changes to color profiles any longer. Is there something in the converter that I should maybe have set differently?

I did nothing with DNG Converter; it worked straight out of the box, so to speak. But I noticed at the link below that you can set compatibility preferences according to your software. You may want to check it out to see if it helps you. Good luck!

Swapped out the RF 600 for the 800 last weekend, after finding that the 600 is effectively redundant with the 100-400 + 1.4TC. It's a *good* lens, although, I can't qualify it as *great*, and certainly gets the job done with some minimal fuss. For a consumer grade lens targeted at enthusiasts, it's probably one of the best pieces of hardware I've used to date and it handles the 1.4 and 2x TCs with aplomb. It's about impossible to handhold effectively with the 2x on it, but can be held bare or with the 1.4x with a little bit of effort.

Handheld, in shade @ 800:

Handheld w/ 1.4x TC; shot from a boardwalk above the estuary

Tripod w/ 2x TC:

If you are used to shooting with any L glass, the lack of critical detail at close inspection is noticeable as is the lack of contrast from adding either of the TCs; but overall, I think this is a terrific option for reach limited scenarios and I'm *really* interested in seeing how these lenses will play with an actual 1.6 sized sensor of equivalent resolution.
