The birds finally turned up. I have sent my 100-400ii to Canon for a service so tried to make up for its absence by combining my 70-200 with a 1.4xTC and a 2xTC with an extension tube spacer. I wasn't impressed with the image quality. This I think was just the 2xTC but has had Topaz Denoise applied. It didn't seem great image quality either - perhaps it was just rubbish light or too slow a shutter speed.

I love the colours on the neck. I’ve never heard of a Grackle. He/she reminds me of a crow, but much prettier! Thanks for sharing.

Using the 2xTC with the 70-200ii

Not sure what bird this is - is it a thrush? I think it is a young one.

I'd say - based on your location in the UK - it's almost for sure a Song Thrush. Beautiful !
