It is amazing how much the topside plumage of a Blue-winged Teal resembles that of the Northern Shoveler. . Those two species, along with the Cinnamon Teal, have the most colorful topside wing plumage of all the North American ducks, in my opinion.

These three species are in the same genus. It's still a bit surprising that they developed other very distinctive color differences but kept almost identical wing patterns.
