Apr 28, 2021 16:17 | #201 I purchased a second-hand copy of this lens last year when a co-worker was switching systems and selling off his EF mount gear. After using the lens for quite some time now, I've learned that it tends to back focus on bodies with lesser AF systems (5D classic, 70D, 80D), while bodies with more advanced AF (7DII and 5DIV) stay much closer to what I'd expect as a centered focus plane. Here's one from last fall - a white-tailed buck shot with the 7D2, 70-200 G2 and a 1.4x TC (I believe I updated the metadata correctly here for the site, but do know that this specific combo doesn't report correctly in-camera - the camera thinks it's a 2x TC). I love mine. Can't see a reason to sell it for the Canon version...
