Hi, does everything work fine with the EF 100-400 + Extender 1.4 or 2 combination?

What is everyone using for raw processing? Does Lightroom support the R6? And if so does it do it well? Any other third party? Or are you mostly using DPP?

Or does Adobe DNG support this? And have you had fgood results processing DNG's?

Curious. I am so used to Lightroom 6 and it supports all my 1D's, 6D's and %D's might be tough for me to change.

I am using Capture one. Before it had support (it was pretty fast this time though) I used Canon's DPP.

I'm using Lightroom and as far as I can tell, it works fine with the RAW's from the R6. I do not notice any difference in comparison with RAW files from my previous camera's like 1DX ii, 5D iii and 7D ii . From what I have read, Lightroom is missing a dedicated camera profile for the R6, but I never used dedicated camera profiles. If you do, there should be profiles for sale by third party.

You make reference to Lightroom 6 and I'm not sure if that actually supports the R6 RAW files (I use the cloud license). I know some people did convert the RAW file to DNG so they could edit in Lightroom, but have no experience with it myself. Just read about it online.

I didn't have much joy with the EF 100-400 Mark i with the extenders on my Canon 5D Mark IV - I can't remember the exact issues but I did buy the mark ii because of these issues and I can assure you the R6 works really well with the 100-400ii and both the 1.4 and 2 extenders (I am using mark iii extenders). You can see the results in the last few posts from me on this thread. I have not tried the 100-400 mark I on my R6 tho with or without extenders.

6 does NOT support any CR3 raw files.. It will do DNG but experience has been less than stellar with DNG's. But I own Lightroom 6, which is the main reason I ask.

Never really enamored with the workflow of DPP, but it does decode raws well. Though I am then left with tiffs to send to Lightroom or Photoshop and pretty large files.

So in making the decision to buy an R6 (or R3) I have to consider post porocessing as a major decision for me.

Well, the MFA headaches are gone with the mirrorless bodies, but the max AF speed is limited with v1 of the zoom with bodies that allow faster TC AF with mark III TCs and mark II lenses.

The original zoom is a bit softer wide open, too, so it is more mind-racking to decide whether to stop down a bit to get the most out of the extra TC magnification. A lens that is sharpest wide open is much easier on the mind; you only stop down when you want more DOF.

Ordered one from Best Buy with adapter, it arrives tomorrow. Hope to be posting soon here

Yes I noticed, so we asked, thank you.

I have no idea what kind of bird this is, but it likes catching insects and getting a drink from the hummingbird feeder.

I've rarely seen Prothonotary Warblers on the ground, but I guess they make exceptions for gathering nesting material (using the 800 mm, I admit having to back up quickly to gain focus}.
