First time I've ever seen a helicopter refuel in flight. Nice and interesting!

and they can refuel 2 at 1 time.

I had the same thought too

Some older shots from 2016.. back when I didn't man up and use slow shutter speeds.. lol.. Admittedly the gear wasn't that great either.. Sigma 120-300 2.8 and Sigma 150-600...

Does anyone know for sure why the landing gear on many of these birds does not retract symmetrically? I have a good guess, but not being an A&P I'm not positive.

I think it has to do with hydraulic system pressure, routing, proximity to the pump. I too want to hear a qualified answer.

Supposedly, it made it easier on the pilot. The gear hanging down created drag that offset the torque of the engine and propeller.

One way to verify this is to note the propeller rotation direction and correlate it to the "hanging" gear. On the planes I'm most familiar with, the propeller turns clockwise as seen by the pilot, and they use "right rudder" to keep the plane straight during takeoff. To reduce rudder pressure, the left wheel should retract first, and that is what we see in the image.

Planes with counter-clockwise rotation should see the right gear come up first for those planes.

Not quite an airshow as such but I flew up to East Kirkby in Lincolnshire UK yesterday, home of the Avro Lancaster 'Just Jane' which is under going restoration to a flying condition. It frequently does taxi runs with fare paying customers to raise funds towards the restoration. Here it is pictured with their Mosquito which also does taxi rides. A great day out!

What a lovely shot mate, I have a vested interest in both as my late farther used to work on both those two during the war as an Erk, in fact I built a model Dio in his memory from when he was stationed at Marham and Downham Market.

That sounds logical Jack. The Spitfire is the same and I have always wondered about it, but the prop torque would certainly be reduced.

On the WW1 planes like the Sopwith Camel the prop torque could throw the aircraft out of the sky on takeoff if the driver wasn't ready with some fairly heavy rudder correction and even on some of the WW2 twin engined aircraft it had to be countered. Some aircraft got over that by the 2 props rotating in opposite directions
