A very old image, taken in 1982, of Lake Matheson in NZ's South Island, with the two tallest peaks: Mt Cook and Mt Tasman reflected.
Nikon F3, Tamron Adaptall SP 17-35 lens, Ektachrome 200.

Not great compared to what today's modern tech can deliver, but for me a magical time of exploration and discovery. To get the lake still and thus achieve a reflection I had to get up well before dawn and walk about 3km to the lake and another 1 around to get to the correct spot. I managed to get a little breath of mist on the water on the far left.

Another shot of the Pindaré from Maçaranduba. If you look at the soil you can see that it is sand, and deep. Maybe tens of meters deep of fine, white sand like the finest of beach sands. But no, it must be the sand from Sahara I have read about, blown there by winds over millions of years.

The road to Maçaranduba ends a bit short.
