The bald eagle was in the foliage shade and against a sunlit background.
The shadowy area at the bottom of the image is due to the use of the flash as mainlight with a shutter speed of 1/400 s,
which is double of the 1/200 s synchronization-X speed max of the Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

In the image below, I have corrected this and have taken the necessary steps to position this shadow area
so that it encroaches on the white plumage in a more discreet way...

ONE TUI at the Zoo:
I went with my niece so she could enjoy it without toddlers and was rewarded with this shot of a Tui, having lunch.
Canon EOS R6, Sigma 60-600S IS USM, 510mm, f/6.3, m1/400sec, ISO-3200. Hand-held.
