A shot from 2013 with my beloved 1DIIN. Can't believe it's that long ago. Doesn't feel like it!
A couple of Egyptian Geese, taken before sunrise.

These birds are very handsome indeed. Very colourful. We have quite a number of them here. They're believed to be escapees as they were once popular as, I don't know, to keep in one's backyard ponds? Something like that. :-P

The Egyptian Goose is a bit of an odd bird though as it's not quite a goose. It's often referred to as a semi-goose or a half-goose as they're not part of the subfamily Anserinae (swans and geese) but are placed in the subfamily of Tadorninae (half-geese).

This is from the Wikipedia:

The Egyptian goose is believed to be most closely related to the shelducks (genus Tadorna) and their relatives, and is placed with them in the subfamily Tadorninae. It is the only extant member of the genus Alopochen, which also contains closely related prehistoric and recently extinct species.

So an interesting bird, that's for sure.

And thank you so much for the kind words. I'm quite fond of the image myself. Taken in blue hour, before sunrise. It's cold light but I like that light a lot as it renders colours so differently and quite lovely, in my opinion. Especially greens often look intense and lush.

I hear ya, SYS...it's wearing me out. I'm spending way too much time at the computer, and not nearly enough in the field with my camera.
