You should “lean” on the telescope in a controlled way to see what you could produce. Curt

nero_design Senior Member More info | Jun 11, 2021 01:33 | #7061 Image hosted by forum (1107070) © nero_design [SHARE LINK] A surreal looking red moon (above) during the end stage of the eclipse. This 5-second exposure with an 85mm lens was photographed with an EOS Ra camera, which has a factory modified sensor for astrophotography. It's particularly sensitive to red and infrared and this single image exposure caused the red from the earthshine to blow out across the moon and color the bright crimson flare from a thin crest of sunlight that appeared on the moon's edge. I predicted that the Milky Way might become visible during the eclipse (which it did) - and you could make out the brighter areas quite clearly with your eyes when this happened. No colors were introduced while editing the JPEG that was captured. I used a non-tracked CGX mount to keep the camera steady in the wind. The unedited image looks exactly the same, just really washed out from both the city lights and the illumination from the moon. I had to shoot with the moon off-center because it was throwing that flare straight at the camera when centered in the middle (seems to be an EOS Ra thing) ... plus I thought a hint of the Milky Way in the lower right corner might offer a sense of reference.THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Be sure to click on the image to enlarge or select "original" for more detail. www.dpreview.com/galleries/5153841870/photos/4179789/011a1631s-orig Image hosted by forum (1107071) © nero_design [SHARE LINK] A wider look at the Eclipse as it was ending... with a Canon EOS R6 camera set on top of a garbage bin for height and stability. This image had some unique diffraction spikes and a little bit of a glow emanating from the bright crescent on moon but I added an enhancement when re-editing it last night. I regret only taking one image because if I had panned the camera down, the city of Sydney would have made an interesting foreground for the shot. But there were a lot of people at the lookout with their kids, to see the Lunar Eclipse... and I had three cameras set up in the dark where someone might have bumped into something or tripped over a tripod leg whilst looking up at the moon.THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW.
