Thanks, it's a partial crop and I used the largest(36mm?) tube.

Just spotted a couple from today's photo walk that I haven't knowingly seen before.

The canon 100mm has s*#t the bed again, just had it repaired June 30th last year so I thought I was good for a warranty. Turns out, canon warranties are for 6 mos. Done with canon, not having it repaired or replaced. May substitute a Laowa lens, not sure yet. Back to last year's rig, my nifty-fifty on full set of tubes + cropping.

Some type of weevil. I have no idea what type but can say it is the largest weevil I'm seen personally.

Wow, neat weevil. And the pics show what can be done with a regular lens and tubes. Sorry to hear about the 100mm! Very unfortunate.

Thanks, Archibald. A really attractive looking bug and, as often happens, I didn't quite realise how "nice" it was until I got it on the iMac.

Yes, it was cool, first one I've seen that big. The usual weevils I see are tiny, would need a major crop w/ the 50mm. These are only a slight crop due to it's size. My other macro option is an old m49 Russian macro lens, the Volna 9. It really is a great lens. I can mount it to my 6D with the EOS converter for 1:1, great results without issue. However, for some reason, when I mount the EOS converter to the end of my tubes it throws an error code, "lens cannot communicate".

Does anyone have an answer for this?

Lots of tiny bugs on this weed, not visible to the naked eye but I could see them when I got the image on my iMac.
